What is galvanized sheet?

November 16, 2022

As the name implies, galvanized sheet is a layer of zinc plated on the surface of the steel sheet, which can prevent corrosion to a certain extent. This production method can also reduce the consumption of zinc in the world.

Introduction of galvanized sheet material and use:

1. Non-alloy hot-dip galvanized steel strip

DC5XD series: It can be used for general use, as well as for deep drawing and bite. The greater the zinc content on the surface, the better the anti-corrosion performance; the smaller the amount of zinc plating on the surface, the better the processing performance.

SXXXGD series: can be used for structure, it has good processing performance and anti-corrosion performance.

HXXXPD+Z series: including low-alloy steel, phosphorus-containing steel and hardened steel, which have excellent processing performance and corrosion resistance.

2. Alloyed hot-dip galvanized steel strip

DCXXD+ZF series: can be used for structure, stamping and cold forming. The galvanized sheet of this material has better welding performance and coating performance, but it is very easy to peel off during processing.

Introduction to the classification of galvanized sheet:

1. Alloy galvanized steel sheet: The profiled steel sheet produced by the hot dip method has good weldability and adhesion properties.

2. Hot-dip galvanized steel sheet: This is a thin steel sheet with a thin layer of zinc attached to the surface, and its production process is continuous galvanizing.

3. Electro-galvanized steel plate: The steel plate is galvanized by electrification, but the zinc plated in this way is relatively thin and the corrosion resistance is relatively poor.

4. Single-sided galvanized steel plate: only one side of the steel plate is plated with zinc, whether it is used for processing, painting or welding, the adaptability is better than that of double-sided zinc-plated steel plate.

5. Double-sided differential galvanized steel sheet: Single-sided galvanized steel sheet still has some shortcomings. In order to overcome these shortcomings, a thin layer of zinc will be plated on the other side of the steel sheet, which is double-sided differentially galvanized steel sheet.

6. Composite galvanized steel sheet: In addition to pure steel, the internal material also includes a composite steel sheet made of lead, aluminum and other metals, and then a layer of zinc is plated on its surface. The anti-rust performance of this kind of steel plate is more superior, and the coating performance is also better.

What is the meaning of smoothing of hot-dip galvanized sheet?

With the continuous expansion of the use of hot-dip galvanized sheet, in the modern strip steel continuous hot-dip galvanizing unit, the following purposes can be achieved by smoothing the strip:

①Improve the straightness and flatness of the sheet, and at the same time, it can also flatten the zinc particles on the surface to make the surface of the strip smooth, which is particularly beneficial for future deep drawing and other occasions with high use accuracy;

② The skin-pass roller used has been pre-blasted, so the surface of the smooth-plated plate has a certain roughness. It can improve the adhesion of the coating, and can also store a certain amount of grease, which is beneficial to the lubrication of the die during deep drawing;

③ For the plated sheet that is later painted, although the surface is controlled into small spangles, the small spangles can still be revealed through the paint layer. Therefore, for some galvanized sheets with high requirements, the surface of the small spangles needs to be smoothed. This allows the galvanized sheet to obtain a more uniform silver-white appearance;

④Through smoothing, the lower yield point can be reduced, the yield platform disappears or is less obvious, which can prevent the slip line from appearing in the later drawing or deep drawing, and improve the possibility of deep drawing.
